Sax-Ecosse is a young, vibrant saxophone quartet who has had considerable success as a chamber ensemble within the UK and Europe.  They were recipients of the Enterprise Music Scotland Residency Project  2008/09, and are members of the prestigious Live Music Now! scheme founded by Yehedi Menuin. They are passionate advocates for original repertoire for saxophone quartet and have successfully introduced this exciting and engaging music to numerous audiences throughout music clubs and festivals. Other recent performances range from recitals at the 14th World Saxophone Congress in Slovenia and the St Olav’s Festival in Norway to community performances and workshops for schools and and retirement homes.

Sax-Ecosse was formed in 2004 by students at the RSAMD and in the same year won both the Academy's major chamber music prizes: Governor’s Recital Prize and the Mary D Adams Prize for Chamber Music. The Quartet also reached the final of Saxtet Publication’s Saxophone Quartet Competition and performed at the British Saxophone Congress 2005 leading to a performance at the British Saxophone Congress. They are grateful for the generous assistance from the Musicians’ Benevolent Fund, The Cross Trust, Scottish International Educational Trust, and The Hope Scott Trust, allowing them to further their development as a quartet with the pioneering Rascher Saxophone Quartet and the virtuoso saxophonist, Dr Frederick Hemke.
